Dr. Anisa Moore
With a background in both literature and medicine, Dr. Moore combines the scientific rigor of modern medical training with a humanistic and empathetic approach to the needs and concerns of her patients. In practice since 2005, she believes in early detection and aggressive management of hypertension, diabetes, and elevated cholesterol. She also has a special interest in the detection and prevention of skin cancer and routinely performs skin biopsies.
Dr. Moore received both her Bachelor and Master of Arts in English in 1993 and 1995, respectively, but while doing her master's thesis, she became fascinated with medicine. After completing the prerequisites for medical school while teaching college English, Dr. Moore completed both medical school and her residency at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center.
Dr. Moore has a wide variety of interests. She is a skilled poker player and an avid (though clumsy) cyclist. She plays piano, loves reading, and relaxes at her home in Golden with her husband, her two dogs, and her cat.
Enthusiastic and thorough, Dr. Moore has the scientific training to understand your health care needs as well as the communications skills to identify and explain the solutions. She is accepting new patients and is excited about building a health-care partnership with you. |

Dr. Crista Spears
In private practice since 2003, Dr. Spears focuses on the importance of lifestyle modifications to promote both quality and quantity of life. She encourages her patients to exercise, eat a nutritious diet, and maintain a healthy weight to promote good health. She also focuses her care on proven preventive health measures, such as blood pressure and cholesterol management, mammograms, and colonoscopies. She believes in partnering with her patients to help them achieve their health-related goals.
Dr. Spears received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and General Science at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, before attending medical school at the University of Nebraska. She then completed her residency and served as Chief Resident at the University of Arizona Health Sciences Center. Upon completion of her residency in 2000, she worked as a hospitalist for three years before turning to outpatient medicine.
Dr. Spears has been a runner for many years. She also enjoys skiing and other outdoor activities. She loves to travel and also enjoys cooking, reading, and spending time with her longterm boyfriend.
Dr. Spears is truly passionate about using healthy lifestyle choices and appropriate medical interventions to prevent illness and disease. She is accepting new patients and looks forward to helping you achieve better health. |

Susan Esmond, P.A.-C.
Susan Esmond joined the Aspenwood Internal Medicine family in August of 2009 and works closely with Dr. Moore and Dr. Spears in offering superior, compassionate care for the patients in our practice. Susan has been in practice since 1996, with experience in family medicine, occupational medicine, urgent care, and pain management before joining Aspenwood.
She completed her Physician Assistant training from Rosalind Franklin School of Medicine and Science (affiliated with the Chicago Medical School) in 1996. Prior to this she earned her Bachelor of Science from the pre-med program at Colorado State University, with a major in Biological Sciences and a minor in Anatomy.
She is a native of Colorado and is married with two young children. Susan enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and volunteering in her community. She also loves hiking, snowboarding, and "all things nature."
Susan places special emphasis on providing quality health care with sincerity, caring, and respect. Her professional interests include musculoskeletal conditions, sports injuries, women's health, and urgent care. As a certified Physician Assistant, Susan is able to diagnose and treat illnesses, perform physical exams, prescribe medications, order and interpret tests, make referrals to specialists, and counsel on preventive health care. Susan usually has same-day appointments available to help insure that our patients are to be seen quickly for urgent health problems. Like Dr. Moore and Dr. Spears, Susan is accepting new patients. |
